Convert Your Document to Text

In MS Word / Windows:

  1. Make a Copy of Your Resume:
    Open your resume file in your word processor. Save the file using a DIFFERENT file name.
  2. Save as Text:
    Click File, Save As. Choose Text Only, then click Save.
  3. Re-Open File:
    Open this new file in Windows' text editor, Notepad. Note: If you don't have Notepad on your system, open the file in your word processor.
  4. Clean-up the File:
    Remove extra spaces or gaps caused by tabs and indented text; restructure columnar text into paragraphs. All text should be left justified. view sample. Change bullets to asterisks, dashes, or other standard keyboard characters.
    Add one space between paragraphs to separate.
  5. Save the changes in Plain Text or Text Only format.
